Facebook Buys Face.com
#All your apps are belong to us.
After buying Instagram for a billion dollars a few weeks ago, Facebook just bought Face.com for roughly between $55 million and $60 million in a mix of cash and stock.
Face.com is described as a technology company with a platform for efficient and accurate facial recognition in photos uploaded via web and mobile applications
In a statement, Face.com, stated,
"We love money building products, and like our friends at Facebook, we think that mobile is a critical part of people's lives as they both create and consume content, and share content with their social graph. By working with Facebook directly, and joining their team, we'll have more opportunities to build amazing products that will be employed by consumers - that's all we're ever wanted to do."
In response, the overlords of Facebook stated,
"People who use Facebook enjoy sharing photos and memories with their friends, and Face.com's technology has helped to provide the best photo experience. This transaction simply brings a world-class team and a long-time technology vendor in house."
So basically, tagging photos that you upload will be much easier at the cost of having no privacy. NICE.
